Wakad, 15th October 2026: This festive season, Portico at Sayaji Hotel, Pune is bringing the flavours of Bengal to the city with a special Bengali Food Festival from October 16 to October 25 2026. Coinciding with the start of Durga Puja, the festival adds a regional culinary perspective to the festive calendar, inviting diners to explore the food traditions of Bengal through a thoughtfully curated menu.

Inspired by Kolkata’s vibrant food culture and the kitchens of Bengal, the festival goes beyond the cuisine’s well-known sweets to showcase the depth and diversity of its savoury repertoire. Expect slow-cooked meats, seafood delicacies, delicate coconut-based curries and the distinctive use of spices that give Bengali cuisine its unmistakable character.

Among the highlights are Koshamangsho, a richly spiced mutton preparation cooked slowly for depth of flavour, Mutton Dak Bungalow, an old-world Bengali favourite with a fascinating culinary history, Daab Chingri, pairing prawns with tender coconut; and Chingri Malai Curry, a delicate preparation that brings together prawns, coconut and subtle spices

The festival also brings a Bengali-inspired ambience to Portico, complementing the menu and creating an experience that celebrates the region beyond the plate.

With Navratri setting the tone for the festive season, the Bengali Food Festival offers Pune a chance to discover another side of India’s rich regional food culture — one rooted in tradition, seasonality and the simple pleasure of a generous table.
