Pune, 16th October 2026: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized food products valued at ₹38.10 lakh from 14 establishments across the Pune division during a special festive-season drive, citing suspected adulteration, misleading labels and other labelling irregularities, according to an official press note.

“As festive days are underway, demand for food products has increased. Consumers should report any complaints about food quality or cleanliness to the administration. The Food and Drug Administration will continue to take strict action,” said D. V. Bhogawade, Joint Commissioner (Food), FDA, Pune division.

The raids were conducted on October 14 and 15. The seized products included items such as rajgira, sago, bhagar, edible oils, snacks and wafers. The press note said food licences at nine establishments—including hotels, restaurants and bakeries—were suspended over alleged violations and hygiene concerns.

The FDA also reported action against the sale of prohibited food products. Between October 1 and 15, officials inspected 22 locations and seized gutkha, pan masala and flavoured tobacco valued at ₹11.15 lakh. The department said it registered 21 first information reports, sealed 13 establishments, seized two vehicles valued at ₹1.10 lakh and arrested 25 people in connection with these cases.
