Pune, 17th October 2026: The grandeur and timeless traditions of Bengal’s royal households will come alive in Pune as Amra Sobai Bangali Sangho (ASBS) celebrates the 10th edition of its Durga Pujo from 16 to 21 October 2026 at Shubhtej Mangal Karyalaya, Sus Road, Pashan.

This year’s celebrations draw inspiration from the magnificent Raj Baris of Bengal, where Durga Pujo has been celebrated across generations. The pandal will recreate the distinctive atmosphere of a traditional Bengali royal home, bringing together heritage-inspired architecture, traditional motifs, festive lighting and the grandeur associated with Bengal’s royal Pujo celebrations.

At the heart of this setting will be Maa Durga, complemented by a specially created Nav Durga backdrop celebrating the nine forms of the Goddess. The artistic installation will reflect the many manifestations of Shakti, symbolising courage, wisdom, compassion and resilience.

For ASBS, Durga Pujo is much more than a religious celebration. It is a coming together of families, friends and the wider community. In keeping with this spirit, the Pujo welcomes everyone, irrespective of membership, and extends a warm welcome to families visiting with their pets. Special attention is given to senior citizens, with priority during Bhog distribution and arrangements to help them access the pandal comfortably.

The six day celebration will feature traditional rituals, including Pushpanjali and other Puja ceremonies, alongside a vibrant programme of music, dance and cultural performances by members of the ASBS community. These celebrations offer an opportunity for generations to connect with Bengal’s rich cultural heritage while creating new memories together.

Food will be an integral part of the festivities, with Kolkata style Bhog, traditional Bengali delicacies, food stalls and a festive marketplace bringing the flavours and spirit of Bengal to Pune.

Two much loved traditions, Dhunuchi Naach and Sindoor Khela, will be among the highlights. Reflecting ASBS’s commitment to inclusivity, both celebrations are open to the wider community and not restricted to Sangho members. During Sindoor Utsav, everyone who wishes to participate in bidding farewell to Maa Durga by offering Sindoor is welcome. The celebration embraces participation from all, making it a shared expression of devotion, joy and community.

The Pujo is open to everyone across Pune and is pet friendly. Visitors bringing their furry companions are requested to follow simple safety and cleanliness guidelines to ensure a comfortable experience for all.

As ASBS completes a decade of celebrating Durga Pujo in Pune, the Raj Bari inspired setting seeks to recreate not only the grandeur of Bengal’s traditional celebrations but also their deeper spirit of community, togetherness, participation and belonging.
