Jantar Mantar Violence During CJP Protest: SC Panel Invites Complaints, Launches Dedicated Portal
New Delhi, 17th October 2026: The High Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC), constituted by the Supreme Court to investigate incidents of violence at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and other locations outside the national capital in July 2026 in connection with the protest organised by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has appealed to affected people and other stakeholders to submit their complaints and representations through its dedicated portal.
The committee has launched “hpec.nic.in” (http://hpec.nic.in) to facilitate submissions from victims, including police personnel affected by the violence. The portal has been designed to protect vulnerable witnesses and maintain the confidentiality of complainants’ identities, if they so wish.
The HPEC will examine issues outlined in paragraphs 12 and 13 of the Supreme Court’s August 18, 2026, order and paragraph 5(i) of its September 10, 2026, order.
Priority will be given to complaints concerning the use of pellet guns, targeted violence and harassment of female protesters, and excessive violence and property destruction allegedly committed by either side.
The committee has urged affected persons and other stakeholders to access the portal and upload their complaints or representations using the applicable formats.
