Pune MLC Polls: Supriya Sule Alleges Spy-Cam Pens Used to Verify Votes for Cash
Pune, 23rd October 2026: NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule on Friday alleged that complaints had emerged of BJP using spy-camera-fitted pens to record votes cast by teachers and graduates in its favour in exchange for money during the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections.
In a post on X, Sule claimed that voters had reported being given pens fitted with hidden cameras, which were allegedly attached to their pockets to record their votes. The videos were then purportedly shown after voting to claim the promised money against each vote, she said.
Describing the allegations as serious and concerning, Sule urged the Election Commission and the state government to take immediate cognisance of the complaints, order a thorough investigation and take strict action against those responsible.
Such practices, if established, would undermine the secrecy of the ballot and voters’ freedom, she said, adding that no attempt to violate the fundamental principles of democracy should be tolerated.
Sule also stressed that the electoral process must be conducted in a fair, transparent and fear-free environment.
Voting for the Pune teachers’ and graduates’ constituencies, along with other Legislative Council constituencies in Maharashtra, is underway on Friday.
