FIR Fails to Stop Rapido Bike Taxis; Pune Collector Seeks Help From Cyber Police to Block Aggregator Application Operation
Pune, 23rd October 2026: Pune district collector Jitendra Dudi has urged police commissioner Amitesh Kumar to get Rapido’s bike taxi option disabled in Pune district, citing the company’s alleged unauthorised operations despite an FIR and warnings from transport authorities.
In a letter to the police chief, Dudi, who also chairs the Pune Regional Transport Authority (RTA), sought the cyber cell’s intervention to remove the option from the aggregator’s app as it lacks the requisite permission to operate bike taxis.
The move comes a week after the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) registered an FIR against Rapido over alleged unauthorised bike taxi services.
RTO officials said enforcement action against operators was ongoing, with more than 10 operators penalised and fines exceeding Rs 60,000 imposed so far. No permission has been granted to operate bike taxis in Pune, an official said.
The continued availability of the service has triggered protests from autorickshaw unions, which have questioned the lack of stricter action despite the FIR.
