Cooler Nights Ahead? Pune Records Season’s Lowest Night Temperatures, Mercury Hits Season’s Low at 16.8°C
Pune, 24th October 2026: Clear skies and dry northerly winds pushed Pune’s night temperatures to their lowest levels of the season on Friday, with the mercury dropping to 16.8°C at NDA and 18.5°C at Shivajinagar.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum of 18.6°C at Pashan, 19.6°C at Lohegaon, 22.9°C at Chinchwad and 22.4°C at Magarpatta.
The cooling is unlikely to intensify significantly over the next few days, with temperatures expected to rise gradually as moisture from a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal reaches the region.
“Clear skies and less cloud cover at night are allowing radiative cooling, leading to a drop in minimum temperatures,” IMD scientist SD Sanap said. He added that minimum temperatures were likely to remain largely stable for the next two to three days before rising as moisture levels increase.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures will remain relatively high over the weekend, with the maximum expected to hover around 35°C on Saturday and Sunday. The mercury is forecast to ease to 34°C on October 26 and around 33°C by October 28 and 29. Minimum temperatures are likely to climb to 20-22°C over the same period.
The IMD said a low-pressure area over the east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal persisted on Friday and was likely to intensify into a depression on Saturday.
