Pimpri Chinchwad, 24th October 2026: Officials and employees of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will contribute one day’s salary towards drought relief, with around Rs 2 crore expected to be deposited in the chief minister’s relief fund.

Municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi has issued an order directing the deduction from employees’ October 2026 salaries, in line with the state government’s appeal to government staff across Maharashtra to support drought-hit farmers.

The deduction will be calculated on the basis of basic pay and dearness allowance, with the remaining salary paid to employees after the amount is withheld. The civic body’s accounts department will carry out the exercise.

Employees who object to the deduction must submit their objections in writing within two days, the order stated. The deduction will not be less than the amount equivalent to one day’s salary.

“The one-day salary contribution will be made towards assistance for drought-affected people, as directed by the municipal commissioner. Around Rs 2 crore will be deposited in the chief minister’s relief fund,” said Satyawan Ubale, chief accounts and finance officer of PCMC.
