Bavdhan, 25th October 2026: A 42-year-old software engineer working with an IT company in Hinjawadi has lodged a police complaint against a Rapido bike-taxi rider, alleging that he forced her to alight midway through her journey, demanded payment for the incomplete ride, recorded their heated argument, and shared the video on social media in an attempt to defame her.

The complainant booked a Rapido bike taxi around 1 pm to travel to her workplace in Hinjawadi. According to her complaint, she requested the rider to take a route via Sunny’s World in Sus. The rider allegedly refused and insisted on following the route suggested by the booking app. The disagreement escalated into an argument during the journey.

The rider then stopped the vehicle on Bavdhan Bridge and asked her to get off before reaching her destination. He demanded payment for the distance already travelled. She objected, stating she should not have to pay for a ride that had been cut short. The confrontation continued at the spot, during which the rider recorded her. She has alleged that the footage was later circulated online to defame her.

She approached Bavdhan police station (Pimpri Chinchwad Police) and filed a complaint. Senior Police Inspector Arvind Pawar confirmed that police have registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence in the matter. An NC offence means police generally cannot investigate or make an arrest without authorisation from a judicial magistrate.

A video of the argument has gone viral on social media. In the circulating footage, the woman is shown arguing with the rider, walking away, and allegedly refusing to pay while warning him against approaching her and threatening to file a harassment complaint.
