Pune: Class XI Admissions Bypassing Online Process in 2025-26 To Be Regularised, Schools to Face Action
Pune, 31st October 2026: The state education department has ordered action against schools and junior colleges that admitted Class XI students offline, bypassing the mandatory online admission process for the 2025-26 academic year. It has also decided to regularise the admissions of these students, allowing them to enrol in Class XII through the online process in 2026-27 and appear for the state board examination.
The decision has been taken to ensure that students do not suffer academically because of admission irregularities by educational institutions. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has directed divisional deputy directors of education to regularise the affected students’ admissions within seven days and submit a report.
Education director Mahesh Palkar has ordered inquiries into schools and junior colleges that granted admissions outside the prescribed process. The institutions have been asked to submit written explanations for admitting students offline.
The department has also sought details of the fees charged from students and whether the institutions had checked the availability of basic examination infrastructure and the capacity of examination centres before granting admissions.
Institutions found guilty of violating admission norms will be fined Rs 5,000 per student. The department has made it clear that the penalty cannot be recovered from students. The responsibility of the concerned headmasters and principals will also be fixed, and action will be initiated against them.
