Pune, 05 November 2026: Passengers travelling on Puneri Metro Line 3 will not be allowed to carry bicycles inside trains, with the metro operator issuing a public advisory citing safety and commuter convenience.

In a statement, the Puneri Metro Line 3 authorities said bicycles were not permitted inside trains to ensure a safe, smooth and hassle-free journey for passengers. Commuters have also been urged to follow the prescribed travel guidelines and cooperate with metro staff to ensure a comfortable travel experience for everyone.

The advisory comes as the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor caters to commuters travelling between the IT hub and the central parts of Pune.

The 23.2-km elevated corridor, connecting Maan in Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 3. Passenger services commenced on November 4. The corridor, also known as the Pink Line, has 23 stations and was developed at a cost of around Rs 8,313 crore. Pune News – The Indian Express +2

The bicycle restriction is particularly relevant given the corridor’s emphasis on improving last-mile connectivity. The authorities have been developing facilities such as dedicated cycle tracks, wider footpaths and pedestrian infrastructure around metro stations. Hindustan Times +1

The metro operator has urged commuters to adhere to the guidelines and cooperate with staff to ensure smooth operations and avoid inconvenience to fellow passengers.

Editorial point: The advisory should be attributed specifically to Puneri Metro Line 3. Avoid presenting it as a blanket bicycle ban across the entire Pune Metro network, as the existing MahaMetro network has separate bicycle-carrying provisions.
