PMC’s Hadapsar Waste Infrastructure Projects Move into Implementation
Pune, November 2026: Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) waste-management infrastructure initiatives in Hadapsar are moving into implementation, marking a step forward in efforts to strengthen civic infrastructure in the growing locality. The projects cover improvements to an existing waste-handling facility in Hadapsar Industrial Estate and a separate mechanised waste-transfer station at Hadapsar Ramp.
The two initiatives address different requirements within Pune’s municipal waste-management system, with one focusing on upgrading an existing site and the other on establishing a dedicated mechanised facility.
Improvements at Hadapsar Industrial Estate
The Times of India reported on May 8, 2026, that PMC’s standing committee had approved a proposal to enclose the existing waste-transfer and processing facility in Hadapsar Industrial Estate with a shed and improve its ramp.
According to the report, the facility handles approximately 200 metric tonnes of municipal waste daily, collected from five city divisions. The proposed improvements followed residents’ complaints about odour and scattered waste.
Tender reference PMC/SWM/2025-26/45 covers construction of an industrial shed at Plot No. 100 in Hadapsar Industrial Estate. Secondary procurement records list an estimated project cost of approximately ₹6.59 crore and a lowest financial bid of around ₹5.52 crore.
With work now reportedly underway, the ongoing construction and proposed civil improvements are expected to significantly improve the existing conditions and provide much-needed relief to residents of the area.
With work now reported to have started, construction progress and the eventual completion of the proposed civil improvements will be important milestones to track.
Mechanised Transfer Station at Hadapsar Ramp
A separate PMC initiative involves a mechanised municipal solid-waste transfer station at Hadapsar Ramp. Under tender reference PMC/SWM/2025-26/31, the scope includes design, construction, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and five years of operation and maintenance.
Secondary procurement information lists the project value at approximately ₹20.47 crore and specifies a minimum handling capacity of 200 metric tonnes per day.
The facility’s progress towards commissioning will determine when the proposed mechanised infrastructure can begin supporting municipal waste-transfer operations.
The progress and eventual commissioning of the facility will significantly improve and strengthen municipal waste-transfer operations through the proposed mechanised infrastructure.
Strengthening Civic Infrastructure in Hadapsar
Hadapsar combines established residential neighbourhoods with commercial and industrial activity, making reliable municipal services an important part of its continued development.
Waste-transfer facilities connect collection operations with the onward movement of waste to processing or authorised disposal sites. Their design, handling capacity and maintenance can influence the efficiency of these operations.
While the industrial shed project focuses on improvements to an existing facility, the Hadapsar Ramp initiative provides for a separate mechanised station.
As implementation progresses, verified updates on construction, commissioning and operational readiness will offer a clearer picture of how these investments translate into improvements in Pune’s waste-management infrastructure.
