Pune: PMC to Transfer 665 Sq M Land in Dhankawadi for Padmavati Metro Station
Pune, 6th November 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will transfer 665 square metres of land in Dhankawadi to Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) for the construction of Padmavati Metro Station on the underground Swargate-Katraj Metro corridor.
The land has been valued at ₹1.15 crore, and twice its assessed value, amounting to ₹2.31 crore, will be adjusted against the financial liabilities of the civic body. The PMC City Improvement Committee has approved the proposal and recommended it for final approval by the General Body, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale said.
The proposed metro station will come up on land reserved for a truck terminus under Survey No. 19 A/4 A and B in Dhankawadi. MahaMetro had approached the PMC seeking the land for the project. Plots numbered 8, 9 and 10 will be transferred to the metro agency.
As part of the arrangement, the existing leaseholders of two plots will be rehabilitated. Syed Sherali Syed Mehboob, the original leaseholder of Plot No. 8, and the heirs of late Satish Shivajirao Patil, the original leaseholder of Plot No. 10, will be allotted alternative plots measuring 225 square metres and 220 square metres, respectively, in Kondhwa Budruk.
However, the case involving Plot No. 9 has a different outcome. The PMC found that its leaseholder, Ravindra Chhotusingh Nivate, had transferred the land without the civic body’s permission and changed its permitted use.
As this amounted to a violation of the lease agreement, the committee has recommended that the entire premium amount be recovered, the lease agreement be cancelled and possession of the plot be taken back by the PMC.
The City Improvement Committee approved the proposal at its meeting held on November 3. Following the General Body’s final approval, the transfer of the three plots to MahaMetro through ownership rights will proceed, paving the way for the construction of Padmavati Metro Station.
