Pimpri Chinchwad, 7th November 2026: Sangvi police have solved a gruesome murder case within a few hours after two human legs, severed below the knees, were found stuffed in a sack dumped along a roadside in the Pimple Gurav area of Pimpri Chinchwad on Friday. The accused, identified as Vishnu Tanaji Kumbhar, allegedly murdered his friend Anil Khade following an argument and dismembered his body to dispose of the evidence.

The incident came to light around 11am on Friday when two waste collectors, Krishna Lot and Omkar Kale, were collecting garbage along the stretch between Ramkrishna Mangal Karyalaya and Katepuram Chowk. They noticed bloodstains on a sack lying among the garbage. Initially suspecting that it contained a dog’s legs, they opened it and were shocked to find two human legs, triggering panic in the area.

Following the discovery, Sangvi police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. During the inspection, police found a SIM card cover inside the sack. The mobile phone number printed on it provided a crucial lead, helping investigators trace the family of the deceased, Anil Khade, and eventually identify Kumbhar as the suspect.

A police team then reached Kumbhar’s residence but found it locked, with the accused having fled. After breaking open the lock and entering the house, police noticed a foul smell. A search of the premises led to the discovery of Khade’s body, exposing the murder.

According to the police investigation, Khade and Kumbhar were friends and had consumed alcohol together on Thursday night. An argument broke out between them, following which Kumbhar allegedly attacked Khade on the head with an iron object, rendering him unconscious. He then used a sickle to sever both his legs below the knees.

In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused allegedly stuffed the severed legs into a sack and dumped it in the garbage along the roadside between Ramkrishna Mangal Karyalaya and Katepuram Chowk.

The SIM card cover found in the sack proved to be a crucial piece of evidence, helping police crack the case and arrest Kumbhar within hours.

The operation was carried out by the Sangvi police team under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Attole, Assistant Commissioner of Police Manisha Kadam and senior police inspector Jitendra Koli.
