Dhananjay Kulkarni asks Pune University to not conduct exams online
Pune, February 11, 2021: Former Senate member Dhananjay Kulkarni has raised an objection and requested Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar to not allow students to give their first semester examinations online from home in a multiple-choice question (MCQ) format.
Kulkarni has demanded that the decision should be reconsidered as conducting online MCQ exams raises questions on the credibility and quality of the exams. The colleges will resume from February 15, 2021.
When choosing the multiple-choice questions, different sets should be prepared. This exam will be for one hour and 50 marks. herefore, the syllabus for the online exam will be limited.
Kulkarni has demanded that the proportion of descriptive questions in the total question paper should be at least 50 per cent. “The COVID-19 pandemic has come under control as the vaccine is available now. Using the COVID-19 to elude responsibilities and conduct exams online is not acceptable,” Kulkarni said.
A few days ago, a Board of Examinations (BoE) meeting approved the online MCQ format exams for first to final year students at SPPU.
