Pune: Cyber Police Station Arrests Man Who Duped People While Helping Them Withdraw Money From ATM Centres

Pune, February 11, 2021: Pune Cyber Police station officials have arrested a criminal who used to dupe citizens by changing their ATM card’s PIN under the pretext of helping them withdraw from ATM centres.

On January 20,  under the pretext of helping a carpenter, the accused had withdrawn Rs 74,760. A case was registered in this regard at the cyber police station for fraud under the Indian Penal Code and sections 66 (c) and 66 (d) of the Information Technology Act.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Anup Shivnarayan Pazare (33), a native of Nagpur, who resided here in Fursungi. He was caught near SBI ATM Centre in Sangvi. Police have seized 27 ATM cards, Rs 50,000 cash, one mobile phone, one ring and one chain, from his possession.

According to police, there are seven cases registered against the accused at different police stations in Maharashtra and Telangana. In Pune, a similar case is registered at Kondhwa police station. The cops from the Pune cyber police station traced the culprit through technical analysis, CCTV footage, etc.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Cyber) Bhagyashree Navtake and ACP Shivaji Pawar. The team included Senior Police Inspector Rajkumar Waghchawre, Police Inspector Kumar Ghadge, Police Sub-Inspector Arjun Bendgude and police personnel Attar, Karne, Ashwin Kumkar, Navnath Jadhav, Nitin Chandne, Shirish Gawde, Nitesh Shelar and Sachin Vaje.
