Earthquake tremors measuring 6.3 magnitudes, people moved out of homes in many states of North India, including Delhi-NCR
New Delhi, 13 February 2021: The tremors were felt on Friday night across North India, including Delhi-NCR. The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred at 10:31 pm was measured at 6.3 on the Richter scale. Its center was about 90 kilometers below ground in Tajikistan. According to the National Center for Seismology(NCS), people left their homes as soon as the earthquake struck. No loss of life or property has been reported yet.
The Department of Seismology had earlier erroneously stated that there were two earthquakes. First at 10:31 pm and then three minutes later at 10:34. It reported the epicenter of the second earthquake near Amritsar, which had a magnitude of 6.1. But later, M Rajeevan, secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, said that this happened due to a disturbance in the system. However, the authorities later revised the information. There was an earthquake once, with its epicenter in Tajikistan.
JL Gautam, head of operations at the National Center for Seismology, NCS, said that the earthquake had caused only one blow. Its center was Tajikistan. Initial investigation revealed that the center was Amritsar. Now that information has been revised.
Earthquake tremors have been felt in many Uttar Pradesh areas, including Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, according to news channels. No news of the loss of life or property has been reported.
The tremors of the earthquake were felt in Rajasthan today. According to the news agency ANI, the earthquake intensity was measured at 4.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake in Rajasthan at 08:01 minutes was 420 kilometers northwest of Bikaner.
