Abu Salem, 5 others convicted in 1993 Mumbai blasts case

Mumbai – A special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court on Friday convicted underworld don Abu Salem and five others on various charges, including criminal conspiracy and murder, in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. 

The court will decide quantum of sentence on Monday. 

Salem was found guilty of transporting explosives from Gujarat to Mumbai before the blasts on March 12, 1993. The others convicted are Mustafa Dosa, Karrimulla, Firoz Merchant, Tahir Merchant and Riyaz Siddiqui. Qayoom Shaikh was acquitted in the case.

Earlier the court has decided case of 100 accused including Yakoob Memon who was hanged in 2015.

In the deadly bomb blasts, 257 people were killed while 713 were wounded.
