Pune, 3rd January 2024: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has raised objections against the portrayal of lord Shri Ram and Sita Mata as clowns in plays performed by the Lalit Kala Kendra department of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Friday night. The student organization has criticized the play, asserting that it involved offensive language and insults directed towards lord Shri Ram.

According to ABVP Pune, the character of the deities was subjected to derogatory language. Outraged by the content, ABVP Pune Mahanagar activists intervened and halted the play, denouncing it as offensive.

The student organization has taken a firm stance, declaring that such depictions and language about Hindu gods and goddesses are unacceptable. ABVP Pune is demanding immediate action against those responsible for the play’s content, insisting that such offences should not go unpunished.

Savitribai Phule Pune University authorities have yet to respond to the ABVP’s demands for action.
