After Chinchwad, Now Restaurant On Wheels At Pune Station; 24-Hours Facility For Passengers
Pune, 17th April 2023: The second ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ of the Pune Railway Division will be set up at Pune Railway Station. The tender process has been completed recently, and the work has also started. Pune Railway Station’s ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ will provide 24-hour food service for passengers.
In 2020, the railway administration came up with the concept of ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ to utilise old railway coaches as a source of income. The hotel is built in an old 24-meter-long railway coach with attractive decorations. Citizens can enjoy lunch, breakfast, and regional food in this. Additionally, this service is open 24 hours.
Seeing the increasing popularity of this hotel day by day, the railway administration decided to set up ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ at four more places. Under that, the first restaurant in the Pune division was started at Chinchwad railway station in December last year. Now the work of the second restaurant on wheels has started at Pune station. The railway officials informed that this work will be completed in the next two months.
Under this concept, the first Restaurant On Wheels started on 26th February 2020 at Asansol railway station in West Bengal. After receiving an overwhelming response from the citizens, the Central Railway Administration started such restaurants in Mumbai and Nagpur. More than 1.5 lakh citizens have benefited from food in both of these places.
