After Death of Patient, Doctors Manhandled and Threatened

Pune, September 11, 2020: Doctors and other medical staff were threatened and manhandled by the relatives of a patient after the patient died at a private hospital in Baramati. Anaesthetist Dr Sujit Adsul has lodged a complaint in this regard with Baramati police station under Pune rural police.

Shivaji Jadhav, claiming the relative of a patient entered the hospital premises and started abusing the nurses and other medical staff after the patient died. He threatened the doctors and beat them. An urgent meeting of the medicos guild was convened and it was decided to lodged the complaint with deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Meanwhile, during the pandemic, the police have been given the responsibility of safety and security of the doctors. Baramati police has deployed one police officer and four constables at 16 different private hospitals”, said Audhumbar Patil, inspector Baramati City police station.
