New Delhi, 25th September 2021:  Indian multinational ride-sharing company Ola recently launched its first electric scooter in the market, which is available in two variants with S1 and S1 Pro starting from Rs 99,000 (ex-showroom, subsidy not included).

The scooter has received a good response in India and the company claims that it has managed to register sales of Rs 1,100 crore in just two days.

Although Ola Electric doesn’t want to stop here, it is pursuing several ambitious projects, including electric mobility. The company also plans to introduce electric cars and electric bikes in India, according to Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Agarwal

Bhavish Aggarwal underlined that this could be a good start for us and that his company is looking to enter the electric bike and electric car segment. Aggarwal shared a blog post on his Twitter handle, in which he outlined the potential of personal mobility that can be implemented in India.

He has confirmed the entry into the electric bike and electric car sector, highlighting how vehicular penetration is low among Indians. He said that “we have already moved ahead with our future factory, which is the world’s largest 2W factory and is manufacturing the Ola Electric Scooter range. We will be expanding our EV range with more scooters, bikes and cars in the coming quarters.”

Aggarwal has also pointed to the obsolescence of conventional vehicles as they are costly to maintain and also harmful to the environment.

He wrote that “our EVs are smart, connected AI machines and will surpass existing personal vehicles. We will optimize the EVs designed by Ola for the shared mobility needs of multi-modal mobility.”
