After National Success, AIT Eyes Global Placements Sector

AIT to celebrate its 21st foundation day on 24th Feb 2016

Pune, 17 Feb 2016 : After registering thumping success in the placements of the students in important institutions and companies year after year, the Army Institute of Technology, Pune is eyeing the global placements.

The institute has registered a remarkable boost in campus placements from 58% in 2004 to a consistently above 90% during the last decade. The highest package offered to its students has risen from Rs. 3.10 lakhs per annum in 2006 to 32.5 lakhs per annum for 2016. The average salary offered to a course is from Rs. 5 lakhs per annum. Moreover, three candidates were placed above Rs 15 lakhs per annum and 20 candidates have been placed above Rs10.00 lakhs per annum for 2015 batch.

Having covered most of the best industries in the country, the college now aims for global recognition by targeting industries abroad with the help of its strong alumni network spread across the globe. Those passing out from AIT have notably joined institutes like IIMs, ISB, XLRI, NITIE, SCMHRD , Darden, University of Virginia and are now working at high levels in DRDO, Honeywell, BMC, GE, Boston Consulting Group, KPMG etc. said Director, AIT Brig (retd) S K Lahiri”.

He further added “The students from AIT have been getting job profiles in all leading sectors like manufacturing, IT product & services, consulting & decision Sciences, E-commerce, consumer durables, publishing, automobile and telecom. In recent years, the institute has seen top global multinationals plucking talent regularly from the campus not just for their knowledge & employability but also adaptability, resourcefulness and discipline.

The multi-national giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Commvault, Oracle, Sapient, Godrej & Boyce, John Deere, Ina bearings, MuSigma, Myntra, ZS Associates, Belzabar, Saint Gobain etc. regularly scout AIT for the commission the scholars from the institute.

AIT, ranked among the top 3 technical institutes in Pune, has retained its supremacy in placements consistently for 21 years. The institute is run by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) for wards of Army and Ex-Army personnel.

It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute ranked among top 75 technological schools across India.  It is accredited by NBA, NAAC and is recognized by AICTE and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University.

With so many success stories in its books, AIT has recently been awarded the “Excellence in Placements” Award (West Zone) by DATAQUEST.

The institute also provides a regular placement prep starting from the third year itself. Besides, the students at AIT are encouraged to take up online courses (MOOC, Coursera etc.) that help to hone their skills. For example, online courses provided Anish Jha with enough impact to clear four rounds of placement encounters, to get a call from Works Applications with a CTC Rs.32.5 lakhs per annum to work in Singapore. It is the highest paycheck in the campus this year.

Machine Learning heavyweight Chirag Nagpal, currently placed in Microsoft R&D Hyderabad, says he regularly gave the NCAT (National Creativity Aptitude Test) tests brought by the college and his good scores helped decorate his resume. He had earlier interned at Carnegie Melon University, USA and also at IISc Bangalore. This, along with nimble Machine Learning skills gave him enough momentum to push through six rounds of Interview.

To top it all, the AIT alumni have occupied respectable spots in the Defense Services as well. Already 10 students from the 2016 batch have joined the services while many more are in the queue. As of today, more than 250 alumni are serving as officers in the Army, Navy and the Air Force.
