Diesel prices rise by about Rs 17 in 10 months

Petrol has become costlier by Rs 6.07 in the year 2021. However, petrol and diesel rates increased in just 22 days in January and February. Petrol has reached Rs 96.32 in Mumbai, which is the highest among metro cities. At the same time, Diesel has become expensive by Rs 06.40 per litre in these 22 days. In the last ten months itself, its price has increased by about Rs 17.

This is how the rate of petrol and diesel increases

The petrol and Diesel price almost double after adding excise duty, dealer commission, and other things to its price. If the excise duty of the Central Government and the VAT of the State Governments are removed, then the rate of Diesel and petrol would be around 27 rupees a litre, but both the Central or the State Government, can not withdraw tax at any cost because a large part of the revenue comes from here.

Prices are fixed every morning

The prices of petrol and diesel change daily depending on the cost of crude oil in the international market and foreign exchange rates. Oil marketing companies fix petrol and diesel rates daily after reviewing prices. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum revise petrol and diesel rates at 6 am daily.
