After Record Low, Minimum Temperatures Rise Across Pune
Pune, 14th January 2026: After recording the season’s lowest temperatures earlier this month, Pune is now witnessing a clear and widespread rise in minimum temperatures across the city and surrounding areas, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On January 9, the NDA and Haveli areas recorded the lowest minimum temperature of the season at 6.9 degrees Celsius.
However, night temperatures began rising steadily over the following days. By Wednesday, January 14, the minimum temperature at NDA had climbed to 14.8 degrees Celsius, while Haveli recorded 14.3 degrees Celsius, marking an increase of nearly eight degrees within five days.
Several parts of the city reported comparatively warmer nights. Wadgaon Sheri recorded the highest minimum temperature at 20.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Magarpatta at 20.0 degrees, Chinchwad at 19.5 degrees and Koregaon Park at 19.3 degrees. Dudulgaon recorded 18.2 degrees, while Hadapsar logged a minimum of 18.0 degrees Celsius.
Other regions also saw a noticeable rise in temperatures. Girivan recorded 17.9 degrees Celsius, Baramati 17.7 degrees, Bhor 17.6 degrees and Daund 16.7 degrees. Within the city limits, Shivajinagar and Ambegaon recorded minimum temperatures of 16.3 degrees Celsius each, while Pashan registered 16.0 degrees. Talegaon recorded 15.7 degrees, Malin 15.5 degrees and Kurvande 14.6 degrees Celsius.
The Shivajinagar weather station, which had recorded a minimum temperature of 10.9 degrees Celsius on January 12, showed a sharp rise to 14.8 degrees on January 13, highlighting the sudden warming trend. This upward movement continued on January 14.
Weather officials attributed the rise in minimum temperatures to a weakening of cold northerly winds that had earlier caused the sharp drop. Parts of Pune also experienced light rainfall on Tuesday evening, which may have influenced local weather conditions.
Residents across the city reported noticeably warmer nights compared to the intense cold experienced earlier this month, indicating that the brief cold spell has eased for now.
