Pimpri Chinchwad, 25th January 2023: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently gave orders to the police officers that they should deal with extortionists who threaten companies to get contracts in MIDC or ‘I will take action against you’. Accordingly, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Choubey held a meeting of the industries located in the Chakan area.
Today, a case of extortion was registered by Mahalunge police station against the person who threatened a private company officer to give him the contract for employee transport. A 36-year-old HR manager of a leading auto component manufacturing company has lodged a complaint in this regard.
Police have identified the accused as Ravindra Gadve, a resident of Savardari in Khed taluka of Pune district.
Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Sable, in-charge of Mhalunge MIDC police station, said that the company is located in the premises of the accused for which he is getting the money. However, since August last year, he had been pressuring the company administration to give him the bus contract for employee transport.
After a public appeal by Fadnavis, there was a discussion about this in the company and finally, the readiness to lodge a complaint against the accused was shown. Accordingly, this case has been registered. “The accused had blocked the bus and demanded the contract from the company. A case under IPC sections 384 (extortion) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) has been registered against the accused”, said Inspector Sable.
Police have appealed that if any person is coercing, threatening, or demanding a contract to obtain work in the company, the company representative within Mahalunge Police Station should inform the police administration immediately. The police administration is always ready to help the company administration.
