Agnipath Scheme: Agniveers Won’t be Able to Leave Job Before 4 years, IAF Issues Rules

New Delhi, 19th June 2022: Opposition to the Agnipath scheme started for the recruitment of soldiers in the three services continues in different parts of the country. In view of this protest of the youth, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Home Affairs have tried to quell the anger of the youth by announcing many facilities for the Agniveers. Despite this, youth are protesting in various states including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Under this Indian Air Force Agnipath scheme, rules have been issued regarding the recruitment of Agniveers. According to the notification issued by the IAF, any Indian citizen whose age is 17.5 to 21 years will be eligible for Agniveer Recruitment. However, the government has also announced a relaxation of up to two years in the age limit for the youth participating in the recruitment this year.

The Air Force can appoint Agniveers anywhere according to its need. Agniveers will also get respect and awards like permanent soldiers. Along with this, a transparent record of every training given to Agniveers will be kept online. After the recruitment of Agniveers, the army will also allow them to take leave according to their need. But Agniveer Sainik will get a maximum of 30 holidays in a year. At the same time, the medical leave will be given on the advice of the doctor. According to the notification issued by the IAF, Agniveer will not be able to leave the job before 4 years.

If an Agniveer applies for leaving the job before the completion of 4 years of service, then it will not be accepted. However, as an exception, Agniveers will be able to leave the job in the middle only with the permission of the competent authority.

25 per cent Agniveers will get permanent appointment:

The Air Force has clarified that 25% of the willing candidates from the recruited Agniveers will be placed on regular jobs. For this, applications will be sought from the candidates for cadre recruitment in the Air Force on completion of 4 years of service. The rank of Agniveers will be different from all the ranks present in the army. Before applying for the job of Agniveer, the candidate has to accept all the terms and conditions of the Agnipath scheme in writing. Along with this, the guardians/parents of the candidates will also have to sign the Agniveer Recruitment Form.

Salary of Agniveer:

According to the Air Force, selected candidates will be given 30 thousand rupees per month. The annual increment in this salary will also be increased every year. Apart from this, Agniveers will also get Risk and Hardship Allowance, Dress Allowance and TA. Also, on completion of 4 years of service, there will also be a service fund which will be income tax-free.
