Ahead Of Ganeshotsav, Pune Police Issue Section 144 Order To Prevent Crowding

Pune, 8th September 2021: Ganeshotsav will be celebrated in Pune city from 10th September 2021 to 19th September 2021 as per the guidelines given by the Maharashtra state government on the background of coronavirus disease (COVID) outbreak.

 

For this Ganeshotsav, a preventive order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 has been imposed in Pune city by the Joint Commissioner of Pune City Police, Dr Ravindra Shisve.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared coronavirus a contagious disease. The state has also invoked the Epidemic Disease Act to prevent the spread of Covid-19. As part of the Corona Prevention Measures, curfews have been imposed in the Police Commissionerate area, places of worship of all religions have been closed and curfews have been imposed.

During Ganeshotsav, Ganesh Mandals generate or release coils of fire with the help of flammable substances (kerosene, diesel, petrol, gas etc.) at their place of establishment. The preventive order has prohibited the release of the coil as it may endanger human life as well as private or public property.

A person violating this order will be liable to punishment as per Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, said Jt CP Dr Shisve.
