AICTE Launches Distinguished Professional Scheme to Boost Employability
New Delhi, 23rd April 2024: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) introduced the Distinguished Professional Scheme (DPS) on April 23, 2024, aiming to inspire and empower students and members of AICTE-approved institutions.
The scheme, inaugurated by AICTE Chairman Professor T.G. Sitharam, seeks to create a pool of industry experts and professionals to guide and motivate students in overcoming job market challenges. Under the DPS, interested eligible professionals who have made significant technical or professional contributions to society can register for the scheme. They must be actively engaged in research, technological development, innovation, and bureaucracy.
The scheme has a duration of three years or until the age of 75, with professionals receiving an honorarium of Rs. 15,000 for a full-day session with students and members. Registration for the DPS can be done through the dedicated portal throughout the year. Professionals can conduct a maximum of 12 sessions annually, with at least three sessions in rural areas. Host institutions can request specific professionals from the approved panel on the AICTE DPS portal. Feedback reports in a specified format are mandatory after each session.
The primary goal of the DPS is to enhance students’ employability, strengthen industry relations, promote research and innovation, support startups and entrepreneurship, and bolster the Indian Knowledge System (IKES).
The scheme aims to provide students with insights from experienced professionals and create opportunities for practical learning and skill development. By bringing together experts from various sectors, the DPS seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Through lectures, seminars, and interactive sessions, professionals will share their expertise and experiences to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators.
