Pune, 16 October 2021: Skies of Pune today witnessed a spectacular air show by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The air show was organised to commemorate 50 years of victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The display included skydivers called ‘Air Devils’, the Sarang display team with their advanced light helicopters and a grand finale by Suryakiran aerobatic team with their Hawk MK 152 aircraft.

Speaking about the performance, Suryakiran aerobatic team’s Squadron Leader Manish Bhalla said, “Every manoeuvre is well thought of and well practised. It requires precision, skill and practice. We practise for six months and then perform the manoeuvres for six months. A new pilot needs 120 hours of flying to perform the manoeuvres. Today, we performed a new manoeuvre ‘heart and cupid’ besides forming ‘Tejas’, ‘Sukhoi’ and ‘Diamond’.”

The mega event was held from 10 am to 11 am at Air Force Station Pune. Family members of defence personnel were invited to witness the show.

Since the main runway at the airbase is under repair, IAF undertook the air show from ‘Parallel Taxi Track’ thus displaying their operational capabilities.
