Air India SATS Officials Suspended Over Viral Party Video Post Flight 171 Crash
Mumbai/New Delhi, 28th June 2025: Tata Group has taken disciplinary action against multiple officials of Air India SATS (AISATS) after a viral video showed employees partying at their Gurugram office, days after the tragic Air India Flight 171 crash. The incident has sparked public outrage and condemnation across social media platforms.
The video, filmed during an office celebration on June 20, featured senior executives dancing to loud music at AISATS’s corporate premises. It went viral on X (formerly Twitter) with users calling the behaviour “insensitive” and “tone-deaf,” as families of crash victims were still mourning.
Responding to the backlash, AISATS confirmed on Friday that four senior officials have been suspended, and several others have received official warnings.
In an official statement, an AISATS spokesperson said:
“We deeply regret the lapse in judgment demonstrated in the internal video. The actions seen in the footage are not representative of our values or culture. Swift disciplinary measures have been taken against those involved.”
The timing of the celebration has been widely criticized, as it came just eight days after AI-171, a domestic Air India flight, crashed on June 12, resulting in the deaths of all passengers and crew members except one survivor.
