AIT to organize PACE-18 from February 15th

Pune: Altogether 5000 participants from leading colleges and institutes will vie for top honors in the Pace-18 inter-college annual sports competition organized by Army Institute of Technology (AIT), Pune at their Dighi campus from February 15th to 18th 2018.

“PACE”, the annual sports festival of Army Institute of Technology Pune, is one of the largest of its kind in the city. Athletes from top institutes like NDA, CME, AFMC, BEG, INA, ACDS, COEP, MIT will be seen in action the four-day long event. The event will witness fierce competition in 27 sports discipline in men and women category in individual and team disciplines like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton etc.

The main aim behind the initiative is to give young athletes a platform to showcase their talent in competitive spirit and arouse sportsman spirit. “PACE-18”, will conclude with an 8 km fund raiser marathon-“RUN ON” on 18th February.

The fund collected for the “RUN ON” through registration and sponsorship will be donated to AWWA (Army wives welfare association) to support the war widows. The run will flag off at 7.30 AM and the participants will have to report at AIT.

Various organizations like Industrial Metal Powders, Capegemini, Oppo, Fitness Gym Center, Cherish hospitality, A.P hospitality, Budhani Wafers, Redbull have come forward to help AIT in their noble cause.

Speaking on the occasion, Brig (Retd) Abhay Bhat, Director, AIT said, “The main motive behind organizing such events is for the overall development of the students and also provide them a viable platform to showcase their talent. Such platforms help students to develop a competitive and sportsmen spirit which helps them to overcome various challenges and at the same time arouse a feeling of teamwork with the co-students. This year AIT has taken an initiative to help thewidows of our martyred soldiers by organizing Run- On and we are hoping for good response as we could help them in the best way possible.”
