All bridges connecting Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad opened for traffic

Pimpri/Pune, August 6, 2019 : Due to rising water level of Mula river, some bridges in Aundh, Dapodi, connecting Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities were closed on Monday. However, since Tuesday morning, the water level in the river has lowered, so all the bridges were opened for traffic from morning.

The traffic branch had on Monday decided to close four to five bridges in Aundh area connecting both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities due to the increase in Mula river water. Police also closed the Mahadji Shinde bridge in Aundh, which was partially damaged. Due to the closure of important bridges, the citizens of both cities had to suffer inconveniences on Monday as they could not go their work places and schools, colleges were also closed.

Many people had to retreat from other bridges, including the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge in Aundh. Some of the citizens preferred to cross the bridge at Bopodi and Balewadi. But they had to deal with the traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, the monsoon rains have eased since Monday midnight. Due to this, the water level of the Mula river has lowered since Tuesday morning. Due to this, the traffic police has opened the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, Mahadji Shinde Bridge, Old Sangavi Bridge in Aundh. Also Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bridge connecting Pimple Nilakh-Baner and the bridge near Bhau Patil road in Bopodi, were also opened for traffic.
