Akurdi, 16th April 2025: As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Akurdi Railway Station in Pune Division is undergoing significant infrastructure upgrades with several key components already completed and others in various stages of development.

According to the latest progress update, completed works at the station include the construction of toilet blocks, waiting areas, the Concourse Overhead Platform (COP), and an Underground Water Tank (UGWT). These completed facilities are aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and station utility.

The water booth structure has been completed; however, associated plumbing work remains pending with significant progress yet to be made. Two new waiting areas are under construction—one on the left-hand side (LHS) and another on the right-hand side (RHS)—with both reaching 60% completion.

Front building construction is currently at 55%, while the PCMC-provided toilet block is 80% complete. Platform 1 surfacing is progressing steadily and has reached 80% completion.

Other key infrastructure works are also in progress, including the boundary wall, which currently stands at 5% completion, and the Foot Over Bridge (FOB), which has progressed to 60%.

Illumination work at the station is listed among the tasks yet to be taken up, highlighting a pending area of focus as modernization efforts continue.

The station’s upgrades fall under a broader strategy to improve accessibility, comfort, and connectivity for passengers, particularly under the framework of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The ongoing works are part of the first phase of modernization efforts being carried out across 20 railway stations in the Pune Division.
