Anil Shirole inaugurated Bio-toilet at Jhelum Express

Pune, October 3, 2018: Under the ‘Swachh Railway, Swachh Bharat’ mission, Indian Railways and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have jointly installed Bio-toilets on Jhelam Express that travels from Pune to Jammu Tawi . It was Anil Shirole, Member of Parliament who inaugurated this initiative having Bio-toilets installed in 24 coaches.

Milind Deuskar, Pune Divisional Railway Manager, Krishna Patil, Senior Divisional Manager and Railway officials of Pune division were also present during the event.

Shirole expressed, “An internationally proven safe system, Bio-toilets will help train coaches, railway tracks and their surrounding areas to remain clean. I am honoured to be inaugurating such system at Pune railway station of Indian Railways. It is such a welcome move.”

He further added that not only these Bio-toilets are user friendly and healthy but also environment friendly.  With the help of bacteria, the human faeces are converted into gas and water and water chlorination is done further. These toilets are sure to be a good step towards ‘Swachh Bharat’ movement. Shirole also urged citizens to properly use these modern Bio-toilets provided by the Railway Administration.
