New Delhi, 21st August 2025: Apple has rolled out the iOS 18.6.2 update for iPhone users, just a week after releasing iOS 18.6.1. The latest update addresses a serious zero-day security flaw that could have allowed hackers to exploit devices through malicious files.

According to Apple’s release notes, the update—sized at approximately 855 MB—is critical for all users as it fixes a vulnerability (CVE-2025-43300) that was causing an out-of-bounds issue during file processing. The flaw increased the risk of memory corruption and potential hacking. The company confirmed that this security loophole may have already been exploited in targeted cyberattacks.

The iOS 18.6.2 update is available for iPhone XS and later models. Apple has urged all users to install it immediately to safeguard their devices. Alongside, the company has also released iPadOS 18.6.2 for iPad users, addressing the same vulnerability.

Last week, with iOS 18.6.1, Apple had reintroduced the blood oxygen monitoring feature for Apple Watch users in the US. With the latest firmware, the focus is on strengthening device security through improved bounds checking.

Users can install the new update by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update > Install Now on their iPhone or iPad.

Tech experts recommend updating devices without delay, as the patch protects against active threats in the wild.
