Mumbai, 3rd April 2025: Amazon Prime Video made an exciting announcement on Wednesday, revealing that Apple TV+ will now be available as an add-on subscription in India and several other countries. Customers who already have an Amazon Prime membership can easily sign up for Apple’s video streaming service for just Rs 99 per month. With this new offering, Prime Video users can stream popular Apple TV+ shows and films such as Disclaimer, Severance, Silo, and Ted Lasso directly through the Prime Video app or website. This move brings more entertainment options to Amazon’s platform, offering a seamless experience for subscribers.

This integration eliminates the need for users to switch between multiple apps or manage different login credentials for various streaming services. Subscribers will also benefit from a consolidated watchlist and a unified library of offline downloads, making it easier to manage content in one place. Additionally, Amazon promises enhanced control over data consumption across all add-on subscriptions, alongside several other user-friendly features.

Amazon Prime Video offers add-on subscriptions for over 25 other video streaming platforms in addition to Apple TV+. These include services like Lionsgate Play, Discovery+, BBC Player, MGM+, Sony Pictures Stream, Anime Times, Crunchyroll, Animax+GEM, CN Rewind, FanCode, Channel K, Chaupal, Hoichoi, and Manorama Max. This expansion comes at a time when Apple TV+ is facing challenges, with reports indicating that Apple is losing over $1 billion (around Rs 8,604 crore) annually on its video streaming service. Since its launch in 2019, Apple has spent more than $5 billion (approximately Rs 43,020 crore) each year on content. Despite its productions receiving over 2,500 nominations and 538 awards, Apple has reportedly reduced its content spending by $500 million (approximately Rs 4,302 crore) in 2024.

This new addition of Apple TV+ to Amazon Prime Video enhances the value proposition for subscribers, giving them access to a wide array of content from multiple platforms within a single interface. As the competition in the streaming space intensifies, such partnerships are becoming key for companies like Amazon to maintain customer engagement and offer convenience.
