New Delhi, 1st November 2021: The Health Department of the Australian Government has approved Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin Vaccine. Now, passengers of age 12 years and above who have taken the vaccine will be able to get entry into Australia without any restriction.

A passenger receiving Covaxin will be considered to have received full vaccination. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia has decided to ‘accredit’ the vaccine. However, Covaxin has not yet received the green signal from the World Health Organization.

Australia’s High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell AO to India said that “The Australian government has recognized Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for the purpose of establishing traveller’s vaccination status.

WHO is also expected to approve the vaccine shortly.

Earlier on October 26, there was a meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) in which the vaccine was expected to be approved, but that did not work out. Now the meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) is going to be held again on 3 November. In this meeting, Bharat Biotech’s vaccine is expected to be approved.

On April 19 this year itself, an application was made by Bharat Biotech to the World Health Organization. This vaccine was developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research.
