Autorickshaw Driver Arrested For Kidnapping And Raping 6-Year-Old Girl In Pune

Pune, 9th September 2021: In yet another incident of sexual assault by an autorickshaw driver, a six-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped in Pune.

Based on a complaint from the girl’s father, Pune police has arrested accused Sagar Maruti Mandhare (39), a native of Bholavade in Bhor taluka, who currently resided in Katraj. A case has been registered against him at Bund Garden police station.

According to police, the girl was sleeping with her family on the footpath opposite Pune railway station ST Stand. Around 1 am today, the accused kidnapped the minor girl in his autorickshaw and took her to Somshankar Chambers building on Pune-Satara Road. He sexually assaulted the girl on the third floor.

After getting information, police swung into action and nabbed the accused. He has been charged for offences under sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police Inspector (Crime) Ashwini Satpute is further investigating the case.

Recently, 13 accused were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old girl from the premises of Pune railway station and raping her for two days.
