This campaign, with a target of producing 5 Lakhs seed balls in 1.5 months, aims to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about the crucial significance of biodiversity. The Civil 20 Global Seed Ball Campaign is part of the broader Millions Global Seed Ball Campaign initiated under the guidance of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Chair of Civil 20, 2023. The campaign was inaugurated by Amma during the Vishu Festival in April 2023. AYUDH, in association with various stakeholders, including the Maharashtra Forest Department, has taken the responsibility of implementing this campaign in Pune.

To kickstart the project, AYUDH organized a seed ball making workshop on the day of the inauguration. The workshop was attended by enthusiastic youth and devotees of Amma, who actively participated in creating the seed balls. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals such as Dr. Santhosh Bikulal Chavan, Proprietor of Farmlabs and Director of Jai Kisan Shetkari Gat, Mr. TP Vijayan, President of the Global Malayalee Council (GMC), RFO Mr. Erfan Mulani, a Range Forest Officer from the Maharashtra Forest Department, Swamini Pavanamrita Prana, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam, and members of AYUDH National Coordination Team, Brahmacharini Amritatmika Chaitanya and Brahmacharini Niseema.

AYUDH has planned to extend the campaign’s reach by organizing seed ball workshops in local communities, 250 schools, universities, NGOs, and societies. The aim is to encourage widespread participation and create a network of enthusiasts who can actively contribute to fostering a sustainable and resilient environment.

Dr. Santhosh Bikulal Chavan, appreciating the initiative, highlighted the role of afforestation in reducing soil pollution, a pressing concern exacerbated by globalization and environmental degradation. He commended the efforts of AYUDH and emphasized the importance of conserving nature and planting trees to tackle these issues effectively.

Brahmacharini Amritatmika Chaitanya and Brahmacharini Niseema from the AYUDH National Coordination Team shared Amma’s message regarding the cultivation of love for nature among the younger generation. They highlighted Amma’s ashram initiatives under the UN Trillion Tree Campaign and expressed that the Global Seed Ball Project provides an excellent opportunity to put Amma’s teachings into practice. Amma emphasizes the intrinsic unity between humankind and the elemental forces of nature, stressing that acknowledging this connection is vital for peace, happiness, and harmony.

AYUDH’s inspiring efforts have set the stage for the Global Seed Ball Campaign to gain momentum. With increased participation, the campaign holds the promise of fostering a future characterized by enhanced biodiversity and ecological balance, aligning with the vision of a sustainable and resilient world.
