‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’ was launched ceremoniously in Pune
Pune, September 24, 2018: Ayushman Bharat Yojana or Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), one of the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was activated across the country yesterday. The primary inauguration ceremony of this scheme was held yesterday in the Collector’s office in Pune.
Under AB-PMJAY, the people of India will be provided with uniform treatment system for better health care. It aims to provide an annual health cover of up to Rs. 5 lakh to vulnerable 10 crore families (approximately 50 crore persons – 40% of country’s population) based on Socio Economic and Caste Census database. This scheme is the largest scheme in the world. In the first phase, state government and municipal medical colleges and hospitals will be included in this and while the private hospitals will be involved in the next phase. The financial provision for this scheme will be 60 percent from the center and 40 percent by the state.
The patients can get free treatment of upto Rs 5 lakhs in government hospitals across the year. Under 971 services included in the AB-PMJAY, around 400 health care services will be free for families. This will also include comparatively expensive health services such as Knee replacement, hip implantation for the benefit of citizens.
Under this scheme, 83.72 lakh families of the state will be covered and 2,77,633 families from Pune city will also be included. The family health e-card of the scheme was distributed at the hands of dignitaries to the10 beneficiaries from the city.
