Pune, 28 May 2024: The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), also known as Ayushman Bharat Yojana or PMJAY, is an important health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India in 2018 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It aims to provide financial protection to economically vulnerable families by covering their medical treatment expenses up to ₹5 lakhs per family per year.

Once enrolled in the scheme, beneficiaries receive an Ayushman card (also called a PMJAY card or golden card) that serves as proof of their eligibility for cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals. Key Features of Ayushman Card

  • Health Coverage: Ayushman Card provides health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year to each family. It covers a wide range of medical expenses, including hospitalization, surgeries, diagnostics, and treatment.
  • Cashless Treatment: Cardholders are eligible for cashless treatment at any government-specified hospital across India, providing seamless access to healthcare services.
  • Family Coverage: The Ayushman Card is a family card that covers all members of a family as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) database.
  • Portability: The Ayushman Card is portable across all states and union territories in India, ensuring access to healthcare services even while traveling.
  • No Age Bar: There is no age restriction for availing benefits under the Ayushman Card.

Who is eligible for Ayushman Card download?

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is mainly for people with low incomes or who are considered below the poverty line.

To qualify for the card:

  • Your family should be listed in the SECC 2011 database.
  • Your yearly family income should be less than ₹2.4 lakh.
  • No one in your family who is over 16 years old should have a regular income.
  • You should belong to a scheduled caste (SC) or scheduled tribe (ST) group.
  • You should not own a permanent house.

You might not be eligible if you:

  • Own a car, motorcycle, or scooter.
  • Have equipment for farming that uses machines.
  • Have a government job.
  • Earn more than ₹10,000 per month.
  • Own things like a refrigerator or a landline phone.
  • Have a strong, permanent house (not a makeshift one).
  • Own more than 5 acres of farmland.
  • Have a Kisan card with a credit limit of ₹50,000.

Required Documents for Ayushman Card

To download or avail your Ayushman card, you will need the following documents:

  • Aadhaar Card: This is the primary identification document for all Indian citizens and is mandatory for PMJAY enrolment.
  • Ration Card: This helps verify your family details and address.
  • Mobile Number: Ensure that the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is active and accessible as you will receive OTPs for verification.
  • Income Certificate: This may be required to verify your family income and determine your eligibility for the scheme.
  • Other Documents: In some cases, you might need additional documents like a caste certificate (for SC/ST beneficiaries) or a disability certificate (for PwD beneficiaries).

Note: Carry a copy of your Ayushman card with you whenever you visit an empanelled hospital for cashless treatment.

Registration Process for an Ayushman Card

Step 1: Visit the official Ayushman Bharat PMJAY website and verify your eligibility using the “Am I Eligible” option.

Step 2: Find the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) using your PIN code on the website.

Step 3: Go to the CSC with the required documents (listed below).

Step 4: Provide your name, address, family details (as per the SECC database), and other requested information to the CSC operator.

Step 5: The CSC operator will verify your details and submit your application.

Step 6: Upon successful registration, you will receive an Ayushman Bharat Card with a unique identification number (UHID).

How to download the Ayushman Card

Once you have confirmed your eligibility as per the above steps, you can download the Ayushman card through the following steps:

Step 1: Visit the official Ayushman Bharat PMJAY website.

Step 2: Navigate to the Beneficiary Section: Look for the “Beneficiary Corner” or “Download e-Card” section on the homepage.

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number or mobile number registered with PMJAY. You may also be asked to provide additional details like your ration card number or RSBY URN (if applicable).

Step 4: You will receive an OTP (One-Time Password) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify your identity.

Step 5: Once verified, you can download your Ayushman card in PDF format. Save it on your device or take a printout for future use.
