Baba Ka Dhaba Owner Returns Home After Recovery, Told Police The Reason For The Suicide Attempt; Many Youtubers Now Face Serious Allegations
Mumbai, 25 June 2021: Kanta Prasad, the owner of Baba Ka Dhaba, has been discharged from Safdarjung Hospital after improvement in his condition and has returned home. The case took a dramatic turn with the statement given by Baba to the police. Baba also told police the reason for his attempted suicide.
In the statement given to the police after returning home, Kanta Prasad alleged that several YouTubers had pressured him to apologize to Gaurav Vasan, after which he fell into depression. No FIR has been registered in the matter so far, but the police are now probing the role of the alleged YouTubers who made calls to Kanta Prasad.
As reported by The Indian Express, DCP (South District) Atul Kumar Thakur said that the condition of the 81-year-old is stable and he is back home. He was admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital in a critical condition last week after he allegedly attempted suicide. A senior police officer said that he was initially on a ventilator and then was kept in ICU.
According to sources, Kanta Prasad’s statement was recorded on Thursday, in which he claimed that several YouTubers had called him to apologize to Gaurav Vasan after which he fell into depression.
Earlier, Kanta Prasad’s son Karan had also informed the police that his father had consumed sleeping pills after drinking alcohol. The family had said that he was depressed about his business for the past few days.
Baba’s wife Badami Devi had said that he had closed his new restaurant in Malviya Nagar, which opened in December last year, and returned to his old roadside dhaba after the cost of running the new restaurant reached around Rs. 1 lakh.
It is worth mentioning that last November, Kanta Prasad had filed a complaint against YouTuber Gaurav Vasan for allegedly cheating people of money sent by them to help him.
Gaurav Vasan had shot a video of Kanta Prasad and his wife on October 7 last year, in which the video showed Baba and his wife saying how they were not getting any customers. After the video went viral, many people donated money to help Baba.
