BAI Pune Announces 29th Edition of ‘Well Built Structure Competition’
Pune, 17th November 2025: The Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Pune Centre, has announced the 29th edition of its annual national competition, ‘Well Built Structure Competition’, which recognises excellence in construction and infrastructure development. BAI Pune chairman Ajay Gujar announced at a press conference held on Saturday.BAI Maharashtra chairman Jagannath Jadhav, secretary Manoj Deshmukh, competition coordinator Sunil Mate, vice-chairmen Rajaram Hajare and Mahesh Maydev, secretary C. H. Ratlani, and treasurer Mahesh Rathi were present.
Gujar said the Pune Centre remains one of the most active among BAI’s 250 centres across the country. “Throughout the year, we organise study circles, seminars, workshops, student internship programmes, and felicitation events. The Well Built Structure Competition is one of our most respected initiatives. It honours contractors, builders and construction professionals for exemplary work and encourages the industry to pursue higher standards of quality,” he said. The competition was instituted in 1997.
Speaking about the evaluation process, Sunil Mate said the awards aim to acknowledge outstanding work by contractors, builders, and young entrepreneurs. “The selection process is handled by an independent third-party jury comprising experts from civil engineering, structural design, project management, architecture, building services, green building consultancy, and construction safety,” he said.
Entries are first screened through a preliminary review based on documentation submitted by participants. Shortlisted candidates are invited to present their projects at the BAI Pune office, after which the jury undertakes site visits. Each project is assessed through a detailed marking system aligned with technical criteria and compliance standards, Mate added.
The competition will be held in 16 categories, including:
1) Residential (Bungalow/Row House/Farmhouse)
2) Residential (Standalone Single Plot Buildings)
3) Residential (Standalone Single Plot Redevelopment)
4) Residential (Multi-Building Projects)
5) Commercial (Malls, Shopping Centres, Offices, Hostels, or combinations)
6) Commercial (Institutional/Hospitals/Recreational Centres/IT Parks)
7) Structures outside Pune/Mumbai – Residential (Bungalow, Standalone Buildings)
8) Structures outside Pune/Mumbai – Commercial
9) Industrial (all types and sizes)
10) Infrastructure (Bridges, Flyovers, Underpasses)
11) Infrastructure (ESR, GSR, STP, ETP, etc.)
12) Infrastructure (Road Projects – Viaducts/Aqueducts, etc.)
13) Government (State/Central) & Semi-Government – Public Works (Residential/Housing/Offices)
14) Government (State/Central) & Semi-Government – Public Buildings/Commercial/Multi-use/Special Buildings
15) Landscape (Gardens, Open Space Development, Public Parks with minimum 80% softscape)
16) Bare Shell Works (RCC, Masonry & Plaster)
