Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested In Pune For 15-Year Illegal Stay; ATS Seizes Fake IDs

Otur, 8th May 2025: In a significant crackdown, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the Otur area of Pune district using forged documents. The accused have been identified as Tajmeer Moshtafa Ansari (29) and Mohammad Alimool Ghulam Ansari (28), both originally from Satkhira district, Bangladesh, and currently residing in Otur.

The ATS team seized fake identification documents, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, driving licenses, mobile phones, as well as expired Bangladeshi passports and visa papers. The arrests were carried out under the guidance of Police Inspector Sujata Tanawade by Assistant Inspector Dattatray Darade and his team comprising Hawaldar Sharad Jadhav and Tandalwade.

According to ATS officials, Tajmeer and Mohammad had been residing illegally in the Otur area for the past 15 years, working as painters. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain how the two managed to infiltrate and sustain their stay in the region using falsified documents.

A case has been registered against both under relevant sections for illegal residence and violations under the Foreigners Act. Further inquiries are underway to determine potential links to other individuals or networks facilitating illegal immigration.
