Baramati: Two Elderly Women Killed In Suspected Robbery; Assailants Flee With Gold Ornaments
Baramati, 30th September 2026: Two elderly women were allegedly killed by unidentified assailants during a suspected robbery at Sherewadi in Baramati taluka of Pune district in the early hours of Tuesday. The assailants allegedly fled after stealing gold ornaments worn by the women.
The deceased have been identified as Krishnabai Ladkat, 65, and Indumati Ladkat, 75.
According to police, the two women were sleeping in the verandah of their house when the assailants allegedly attempted to open the iron security door. The women woke up and reportedly resisted the attempt. The assailants then allegedly attacked them, resulting in their deaths.
The attackers allegedly removed the women’s gold ornaments and fled from the spot.
After receiving information about the incident, police officers, a forensic team and a dog squad reached the spot and collected evidence. Police teams have been formed and deployed to trace the suspects.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said the preliminary investigation indicated that robbery appeared to be the motive.
“Investigations are underway to determine how the attackers entered the house, why the women were targeted and whether anyone else was involved. We are also examining whether the attack was pre-planned and whether the women knew the accused,” Gill said.
Police are also investigating whether the women were attacked to prevent them from identifying the assailants. Officials said all possible angles were being examined and efforts were underway to identify and arrest those involved.
