Bavdhan Manch Cultural Fest 2016 gets under way.

Bavdhan Manch cultural Fest 2016, opened yesterday to the sweet voice of popular  classical singer  Shounak Abhisheki.

The event was inaugurated on Saturday 28th May at the Suryadatta College auditorium. The event started off by Ganesha Vandana by young dancers of Nrutya Sanjog,  choreographed by famous Kathak dancer Ms. Amartya Chaterjee, who is also one of the event mentors along with Ms. Asmita Chincalkar, famous stage and cine artiste and singer.

This was followed by the the lighting of
the lamp by the Chief guest Shaunak Abhisheki,  kicking off the Bavdhan Manch Cultural Fest 2016.

All esteemed guests were welcomed to the dias by founders Nitin Pradhan and Vaibhav Nagarkar from Bavdhan
Manch. Mr. Dilip Vedpatil, Mr. Gorakh Dagade, Mrs. Pushpatai Kanojia, Corporator, Ms. Mahua Narayan, M.D. Ambrosia Hotels, Mr. Harshad Jhodge, SR. Manager Lokmanya Bank,  Ms Amarta Chatterjee mentor and other dignitaries from Bavdhan were also present for the ceremony.

Kids from Vaidehi in Bavdhan, performed the Welcome Song “Susvagatam” to welcome all the guests.

Shounak Abhishekhi appreciated the success of Bavdhan Manch in bringing together the people of Bavdhan for a common good.

In an open interactive session with  audience he answered many questions  relating  Hindustani Classical music.  He mentioned that the base of all music would always remain classical and that it will always remain the music for the classes than for the masses. He also sang a few lines on special request from the audience.

Mr. Vaibhav Nagarkar then spoke about Bavdhan Manch and its achievements and also explained the format of the Cultural Fest 2016.Vaibhavji said that Bavdhan Manch is a 3 year old group of people who have come together to make Bavdhan a better place to live in. The approach is to identify Civic and community issues and solve them with the help of other Bavdhan citizens. Bavdhan Manch also held a highly successful Winter Sports Fest in December last year, which will be repeated this year too.

The audience was then enthralled by the jugal bandi of Sarod by Shri Vivek Kamble and Tabla by Shivanand  Vairagkar.

The dance competitions started on Saturday with over 30 performances of Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Bollywood and Folk.Sunday was music competition at Ambrosia. Vocals were the key theme here. Asmitaji Chinchalkar and Udayji Ramdas were the esteemed judges. Over thirty  Bavdhankars performed and enthralled the gathering with classical, semiclassical, group songs and Kawwali.  The high point was Asmitaji singing on public request “Patit tu Paavana” from Sangeet Kanhopatra  and  Udayji Ramdass playing the tabla and taking the audience to a different high.

Bavdhan Manch Cultural Fest 2016 will continue for next four weekends and a Grand Finale is planned for 19th of June.

Over twenty five workshops will run on weekdays in various Bavdhan venues which will help develop various art forms. These include warli painting, madhubani, puppet making, jewelry making, music, flute, movie making, story telling, paper crafts, Dhol Tasha etc…

The unique feature of this event is its localised nature, for Bavdhankars, by Bavdhankars. And is an event of Bavdhan Manch.
