Kasba Peth, 1st September 2021: An FIR has been registered by Pune city police against Bharatiya Janata Party’s Maharashtra State president Chandrakant Patil, Pune city president Jagdish Mulik and Mayor Murlidhar Mohol and 40 others for allegedly violating Coronavirus disease (COVID19) prevention norms during a protest against the state government.

The case has been registered at Faraskhana police station. The accused persons have been booked for offences under sections 188, 269, 270 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant charges under the Maharashtra Police Act and Disaster Management Act.

According to police, BJP workers had organised a statewide protest demanding the reopening of religious places. In Pune, the protest was led by BJP state president Chandrakant Patil on Monday. The protesters entered the Kasba Ganpati temple and offered prayers despite having restrictions in place.
