New Delhi, 19th December 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday responded to Rahul Gandhi’s press conference, where he sought to clarify allegations of pushing two ruling party MPs. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed disappointment, stating that despite expectations, neither Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge nor Rahul Gandhi offered an apology for their actions in Parliament.

Chouhan accused Gandhi of deliberately ignoring security instructions and pushing BJP leaders at the Makar Dwar, resulting in BJP MP Pratap Sarangi’s serious head injury. Sarangi, 69, was hospitalized and remains under treatment. Chouhan questioned whether physical force was now being used in Parliament instead of reasoned debate.

The BJP also highlighted an allegation by Nagaland MP Phangnon Konyak, who claimed that Gandhi had threatened and pushed her, leaving her distressed enough to seek the Speaker’s attention.

In a separate press conference, Gandhi had criticized BJP MPs for blocking opposition members from entering Parliament. He accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of demonstrating an inappropriate mindset and called for an apology and resignation from Shah, accusing the BJP MPs of disrespecting Dr B.R. Ambedkar by obstructing the opposition’s path.
