Ahmednagar/Pune, 26th May 2023: Acting on specific intelligence provided by the Military Intelligence (MI), Southern Command, a fake Army Recruitment Module consisting of five individuals was successfully apprehended during the night of May 24 and 25 in Ahmednagar.
The module had devised a scheme to infiltrate candidates into the Indian Army using forged call up letters and counterfeit identity cards. Upon receiving information about the mastermind of this operation, Lokesh Kumar, aged 30, who was believed to be based in Pune, authorities managed to locate his whereabouts. A joint operation between the Ahmednagar Police and MI Pune led to the interception of the module on the outskirts of Ahmednagar.
Upon being cornered, the accused attempted to flee the scene. However, thanks to the well-coordinated efforts of the law enforcement agencies, the module was successfully apprehended and subsequently taken to the Bhingar Police Station in Ahmednagar. A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged, and an ongoing investigation is now underway.
